Artist: Carlos Pena Y Su Salsa Swing
Name of CD: Carlos Pena Y Su Salsa Swing – Mi Musica
Release Date: 2010
The Venezuelan Salsa star Carlos Pena released his first album 'Mi Musica' with great original compositions, which will get all Salsa dancers and Latin music lovers dancing and singing at their very best. This is a Salsa album for all seasons and dance styles.
Carlos Pena's 'Mi Musica' (English: 'My Music') starts with the Salsa song “Runruneando” (English: “Complaining”) immediately sets the tone and pace of the entire album. The Venezuelan sound has a very strong percussion section, sweet vocals and clear trumpets, which makes it an ideal song for both LA Style (or London Style) Salsa on1 and New York Style Mambo on2 dancers. The same can also be said for the song “Guasalsa Pa'ti” (English: “Guasalsa For You”). The title song “Mi Musica” is not only a very addictive Salsa dance song, but it's musical breaks (great bridge!) and natural sound makes it also excellent for Salsa teachers to use for their Salsa Musicality classes and workshops. I love Edson Martinez' piano play in “Tu Forma De Bailar” (English: “The Way You Dance”). My favorite song is definitely “Pa' los Rumberos” (English: “For The Rumba Dancers”), which is a little bit faster. I was also pleasantly surprised with the song “Baila Nena” (English: “Dance Girl”), which is a “groovy Boogaloo Reggaeton”. The Latin Jazz instrumental song “Opening & Closing” is excellent for Salsa choreographers searching for that special song for a spicy & modern Mambo dance routine.
All eight Salsa tracks on Carlos Pena Y Su Salsa Swing's 'Mi Musica' have great hit potential. Most of the songs have a regular beat, which makes them excellent for teaching Salsa and Mambo. I expect many top Salsa DJ's and dance instructors around the world to add this album to their collections. Carlos Pena puts Salsa in the United Kingdom on the world map.
