El Gran Combo de Puerto Rico has a long history in Salsa Music. I consider the album ‘Sin Salsa No Hay Paraiso’ (‘There Is No Paradise Without Salsa’) to be a true jewel in the crown of the legendary Salsa Band. Alfa Recording Studio in Puerto Rico brought out this album containing songs with heart-warming Mambo riffs, which are rising in popularity on Salsa dance floors all around the globe.

The songs of the CD ‘Sin Salsa No Hay Paraiso’ are excellent for the modern Salsa and Mambo dance public to enjoy. The title song ‘Sin Salsa No Hay Paraiso’ is a classic Salsa song, which is ideal for dancing Salsa On1 and On2 Mambo. ‘El Problema Esta En El Coco’ (‘The Problem Lies In The Brain’) is a sultry Mambo song which is also excellent for Cuban Style Salsa dancers. The same can be also said for ‘La Espuma Y La Ola’ which is a little bit faster. The song is also one of my favorites on this album. ‘La Espuma Y La Ola’ has also a little Spanish vibe to it. The Spanish Salseros will surely like it. In the song ‘A Mi Me Gusta Mi Pueblo’ (‘I Like My People’) El Gran Combo de Puerto Rico explains how much they love the Latin American people. ‘Es La Mujer’ is a Salsa Romantica with a very powerful message telling all women to refuse the physical abuse of men. The song ‘Colombia Tierra Querida’ is an homage to Colombia, the country playing a great part in the evolution of Salsa music. The mix of Salsa and Colombian Cumbia is very catchy.

I am pretty sure the song ‘Achillipu’ will become a great hit among the many Salsa ‘Musicalists’ and ‘Mambo Fanatics’ all over the world. The song has many nice breaks and also a nice flow to it: a real masterpiece, and my absolute favorite. I imagine the whole dance floor singing ‘Achilipu – apu – apu’ together in unison.

All the songs on the album ‘Sin Salsa No Hay Paraiso’ have ‘hit potential’. Salsa and Mambo Dance Instructors can use the songs for teaching Salsa, Mambo, and Musicality dance classes & workshops. Most of the songs have a regular beat, which makes them ideally suited for Salsa and Mambo students to practice their latest dance moves. Salsa and DJ’s would miss a great chance if they do not purchase this album. The songs are great for Salsa parties at small clubs, but they are also excellent for spinning at large Salsa Dance Congresses. Listeners will revel in the brilliant compositions and ‘classic Salsa sounds with a 2010 Twist’.

El Gran Combo de Puerto Rico is ‘still going strong’ after all these years of making ground breaking Puerto Rican Mambo.

Dance because you like it and show that. Own the dance. A good student can copy the teacher but a great dancer learns and then makes it her own. So, create your own style and do your thing. And very important: dare to dance!
