Lost Cuban Trios Of Casa Marina

Artists: Trio Melodicos, Trio Zamoro
Name of CD: Lost Cuban Trios Of Casa Marina
Release Date: August 17, 2010

The CD Lost Cuban Trios Of Casa Marina is a compilation of songs played by Trio Melodicos and Trio Zamora in the famous brothel of Cuba, “Casa Marina”, and recorded in Matanzas (1958). This album is excellent for all of us searching, exploring or discovering the real roots of Salsa music.

Lost Cuban Recordings did me a great pleasure by discovering the authentic Cuban music of these two trios. They play a mix of originals and covers in the likes of the famous Buena Vista Social Club & Trio Matamoros. The song “Anoche Sone Contigo” (“Last Night I Dreamt About You”) is a very happy and upbeat Merecumbe. The song immediately sets the tone and pace of the entire album. The song “El Negrito Del Batey” (“The Little Negro From Batey”) is actually a Dominican Merengue played “Cuban Style”. This famous song about a negro that does not want to work is very famous indeed. The song “Vacilon” (“Having Fun”) is an original Cha Cha Cha song. It is a great song for Mambo and Salsa dance instructors to use as an introduction to Cha Cha Cha music & dance. The Bolero “Besame” (“Kiss Me”) has been made world famous by the late Nat King Cole. I find Trio Melodico's version to be much better!

The compilation of the 24 songs on the album Lost Cuban Trios Of Casa Marina are real gems. Together they make the entire album a real treasure and a very coveted one for the lovers of real Cuban music and Cuban tradition. The songs on this album are not destined to become great hits on the Western Salsa dance floors, but they are excellent for listening and playing at parties with a tropical or Cuban theme.

Dance because you like it and show that. Own the dance. A good student can copy the teacher but a great dancer learns and then makes it her own. So, create your own style and do your thing. And very important: dare to dance!
