Body to Body is a Partnering Dance Technique and Styling Dance Element. Some dance forms are traditionally mainly done with the (upper and/or lower) body of the Leader touching the body of the Follower. They embrace each other with both arms (with the arms of the Leader under the arms of the Follower) , or they have embrace each other with both arms (with the L-R Hand Hold) but with the bodies against each other.
In Western society this way of dancing is generally considered "not done" if the Leader wants to dance this way all the time, or for the most part of the dance. It's also not accepted if the Leader pulls the Follower to his own body for some "pelvic grinding". One of the Basic Guidelines of Modern Salsa Dancing is: the Follower (the lady) dictates the distance in between herself and her dance partner. Examples of dances originally done "Body to Body" are: Son, Merengue , Soca, Calypso, Bachata, Lambada, Rítmo Combiná , Coladeira, Zouk, Argentine Tango and Soul Dancing (Ballads).
