Copa is a Partnering Dance Technique. The Follower stands in a 2nd Dance Position in the middle of a Cross Body Lead. The Leader starts with an Open Break (see "Open Break") & pulls the Follower after the 2nd Beat out of balance making her step with her right side on the Dance Line making her perform a Forward Walking Turn (l) (see "Forward Walking Turn"), but stepping on the syncope (see "Syncopes") with her right foot (2,5 count) and streching her left foot to the side with the big toe touching the ground (3rd count).
This is the same dance technique applied for making a Snap (see "Snap"). The Follower is now standing with her back to the Leader. The Copa is mostly followed by a CBT (see "Cross Body Turn") making her travel back in the direction from which she started to dance. When doing a Copa the weight of the Follower is usually on her right leg (with her rear turned rightwards). Other international names for this are "peek-a-boo" and "in & out".
