Cross Body Check (CBcheck)

Cross Body Check is a Partnering Dance Technique. It means a Cross Body Turn (see "Cross Body Turn") ending in a Check (see "Check"). The same Dance Techniques as a CBT (see "Cross Body Turn"), but with the dancers starting from (or the Leader leading it with) a Right to Right Hand Hold (see "Hand Holds").

The Follower is stopped directly after finishing her second Walking Turn (7th count) preventing her from executing the 3rd Walking Turn (Lazy Turn). The Leader ends in a 2nd Dance Position behind the Follower. The Leader can stop the Follower by only using one hand or without by bringing the Right to Right Hand Hold up at the same height of her right ear. The Leader has the palm of his leading hand pointing towards himself. The Follower has her right arm bent.

After the CBCheck the Leader can choose one of two ways to let the Follower make a Prep Step (see "Preparation Step") to get out of the Check Dance.

Position: 1. He makes an accent downwards with the Right to Right Hand Hold making the Follower Break on the spot with her right foot (Follower 3rd Dance Position) (1st count), he brings this hand up again letting her step forward with her left foot (Follower 3rd Dance Position) (2nd count) and he brings his right hand towards himself making the Follower Pivot (r).

2. He brings his leading hand forward and in front of the Follower making her Break to the front (Follower 4th Dance Position) (1st count), he then starts to pull his leading hand to his direction making her step on the spot with her left foot (Follower 4th Dance Position (2nd count), and he keeps pulling his leading hand in his own direction making the Follower do a Backwards Walking Turn (r) (3rd count). T

he Leader can continue to lead the Follower into a Mambo Right Turn (see "Mambo Right Turn"), a CBX (see "Cross Body X") or a rev-CBX (see "Reversed Cross Body X") (On1).

Dance because you like it and show that. Own the dance. A good student can copy the teacher but a great dancer learns and then makes it her own. So, create your own style and do your thing. And very important: dare to dance!
