Half Mambo Left Turn (1/2 LT)

Half Mambo Left Turn: Salsa Partnering Dance Technique.

Online Salsa Dance Formula: 1/2 LT. Description for Leaders and for Followers: Starting from the Mambo Basic (see "Mambo Basic"; Leaders start from the 7th count and the Followers start from the 3rd count & in 3rd Dance Position) the Mambo Left Turn is initiated with a Forward (or Front) Break with the left foot (4th Dance Position), then step (on the spot with the right foot; 4th Dance Position), and followed by a Backward Walking Turn (l) (4th Dance Position).

But instead of making the following Forward Walking "sleepy" Turn (l) the dancer makes a Front (4th Dance Position) or Side Break(s) (2nd Dance Position). The Half Left Turn is commonly used for Leaders to lead the Followers in a Check or Wrap Dance Position. The Leader also uses this turn himself to end with his back to the Follower, or continue with a reversed Cross Body Lead (see "Reversed Cross Body Lead).

Sanne Keijzer
Dance because you like it and show that. Own the dance. A good student can copy the teacher but a great dancer learns and then makes it her own. So, create your own style and do your thing. And very important: dare to dance!
