Hook Turn (HT)

Hook Turn: Freestyle and Partnering Dance Technique. The dancer places the right foot behind the left foot and turns on both feet to the right until he or she ends again facing forward. Note that there are also other ways of performing this move e.g. stepwise using the Son Basic (see 'Son Basic'). A Hook Turn is mostly performed by Leaders when doing Partnering Dance: it is nearly impossible to lead the Follower into a Hook Turn properly. Another name for a Hook Turn is a 'Rande'.

Dancer Of The Week

Sanne Keijzer

Sanne Keijzer
Dance because you like it and show that. Own the dance. A good student can copy the teacher but a great dancer learns and then makes it her own. So, create your own style and do your thing. And very important: dare to dance!
