Lady tuck in/duck under

Lady tuck in/duck under: Partnering Dance Technique. This can be seen as covering the lady with a blanket and she ducks out of it again. The dancers perform a Cross Body Wrap (see "Cross Body Wrap") with a couple of differences:

The Follower is lead to make a full Cross Body Turn followed by half of a Mambo Basic (see "Mambo Basic") while she's in the Wrap Dance Position (see "Cross Body Turn") because the Leader walks with her (counter clockwise) on the first 3 Beats of the second Basic (see "Basic"). They both end facing front (looking at the point they started the Cross Body Wrap) (3rd count). The follower is now in a Cuddle Dance Position on his right side (see "Cuddle"). He pushes the Follower forward while pressing her down with his right arm against her upper back making her break forward with her left foot and duck (5th count). The Leader pulls the Follower back (Left to Left Hand Hold on her belly) and she walks back still with her back bent on counts 6 and 7. She starightens her back on count 8.

This Dance Technique is also called a "Throw Up" as the arms of the leaders presses against the belly, making the follower feeling somewhat uncomfortable (like throwing up). Note that this can be a very Follower unfriendly dance move! It is a non leadable dance move (See "Non-Leadable Dance Moves") for Followers who haven't had the proper instruction of how to recognise, react and execute it properly!

Dancer Of The Week

Sanne Keijzer

Sanne Keijzer
Dance because you like it and show that. Own the dance. A good student can copy the teacher but a great dancer learns and then makes it her own. So, create your own style and do your thing. And very important: dare to dance!
