Menear

Menear: Salsa Dance Term. When dancing Freestyle (see "Freestyle") it means "To rotate" or to make "figure 8’s" with the hips. When doing Partnering Dance it means ‘to grind, rub, or to make figure 8’s with both pelvices stuck together. This way of dancing is generally not allowed in (modern) Salsa.

In some cultures and dances it is common practice when dancing Body to Body (see "Body to Body"). The Follower (in most cases female) is the one deciding if it’s allowed for a (specific) Leader to dance this way with her.

Dance because you like it and show that. Own the dance. A good student can copy the teacher but a great dancer learns and then makes it her own. So, create your own style and do your thing. And very important: dare to dance!
