Cuban guitarist and singer. Eliades was born in Loma de Avispa, Songo La Maya in Santiago province. At the age of six he started to play the guitar. Eliades went on to perform at various ensembles, like Septeto Cubanos, Casa de la Troya and Buena Vista Social Club.
José Luis Cortés formed NG La Banda in 1986, which has become in many ways synonymous as the “inventor” of Cuban Timba music. NG La Banda became known as the music of the people, emanating from the “barrios”, the poorest parts of Havana, yet many intellectuals deemed it too dirty and vulgar to be a valid art form.
Frank Reyes, often going under the epithet “El Princípe de la Bachata”, The Prince of Bachata. Reyes grew up in a village with his family where they dealt with cultivation.
