Snap

Snap: Styling Dance Technique for Followers. Instead of just breaking with her right foot to the back the Follower steps and backs with her whole weight on her right foot on the syncopated count (see "Syncopes"). On the following whole Beat she twists her body facing her right side (at 90 degrees angle from her starting point) and taps (see "Taps") with the big toe of her left foot on the ground and to the side (1st count) (On1).

It’s a very quick and powerfull dance move. Hence the name "snap". The Snap is mostly lead by the Leader. The Follower can choose to lead herself into a Snap while dancing together with her dance partner. The condition: she must not disturb the lead of the Leader. The Follower is allowed to lead the Leader with her Snap when she wants to get out of a T-stance (see "T-stance"). She ends the Snap by turning her body and by stepping back into the Dance Line (2nd count). After this she can continue to finish a Mambo Basic (see "Mambo Basic"), Turn (see"Mambo Right and Mambo Left Turn"), or a CBX (see "Cross Body X").

Sanne Keijzer

Sanne Keijzer
Dance because you like it and show that. Own the dance. A good student can copy the teacher but a great dancer learns and then makes it her own. So, create your own style and do your thing. And very important: dare to dance!
