Styling

Salsa Styling: Additional show moves and techniques (solo and/or in partnering). The purpose is not only to make a stylish move but is often more of a practical nature for safety reasons (e.g. to keep hands and arms out of way for the partner when turning and spinning).

Advanced definition: The extra Dance Elements Leaders and Followers use during the regular Partnering Dance and Freestyle (Shines, Footwork or Solo) to add an extra dimension or flavor to their own dancing. Styling also makes the dancers unique in their own way of dancing, and it also gives the dancers more tools to interpret the music with (= Musicality). Styling on the social dancefloor is done by Leaders and Followers to impress and to challenge each other.

Example: Mambo O and Mambo RT with several Styling Dance Elements.

Sanne Keijzer

Sanne Keijzer
Dance because you like it and show that. Own the dance. A good student can copy the teacher but a great dancer learns and then makes it her own. So, create your own style and do your thing. And very important: dare to dance!
