Walking Turn

Walking Turn: Starting from a 3rd or a 4th Dance Position the dancer spins 180 degrees on 1 foot while he or she drags or steps with the other foot in the direction of the half spin. The other foot ends in the same position as the starting dance position, but can vary in the type of Dance Position.

E.g. with a Mambo Right and Left Turn, the Walking Turn starts and ends in a 4th Dance Position. But the first 2 Travelling Turns (these are also Walking Turns) of the Cross Body Turn are done in a 3rd Dance Position. The last one is done in a 4th Dance Position. The correct name for a Walking Turn should be "Walking Half Spin".

Dancer Of The Week

Sanne Keijzer

Sanne Keijzer
Dance because you like it and show that. Own the dance. A good student can copy the teacher but a great dancer learns and then makes it her own. So, create your own style and do your thing. And very important: dare to dance!
