Puerto Rican salsa singer Eddie Santiago has had a remarkably long and productive career, continuously recording since the 1980s and with more than a handful of commerical successes. His interest for the music started already at a young age. He performed with numerous groups, like Generación 2000, Orquesta Opus, Orquesta La Potente and the Orquesta Saragüey.

Eddie’s international fame started when he formed his own band in 1986. “Tú me quemas” (You burn me), “Qué Locura Enamorarme de Ti” (What madness to fall in Love with you), “Me Fallast” (You failed me), “Tu Me Haces Falta” (I need you) became instant hits at the time of release. He became one of the most popular salsa singers of the late ‘80s and early ‘90s in the style “salsa romántica”.

In 2004, Eddie Santiago announced a return to commercial music, with his new CD, Despues del Silencio, a title that alludes to the long period since his previous CD was released. He was nominated for the Salsa/Merengue Album of the Year in the 2006 Grammy Awards.
