Eddy Herrera is well known Dominican Latino singer, one of the best of his genre. He is also Casandra award-winner for Best Male Performer.

When Herrera was 7, his mother, Elba Victoria de Herrera, discovered his talent of singing. Two years later, his father Ivan Herrera gave him a guitar as a birthday present in order to motivate his music interest further. He started to participate in various music contests, such as the Festival of the Voice of Santiago. At the age of 15 he won the second prize, at the age of 17 he won the whole competition.

He attanded the Pontifical, Catholic University Madre y Maestra in order to become an architect. During his studies he was offered join the music group of Wilfrido Vargas which he accepted against his mother’s objections. His international fame started with “El Jardinero” in 1984, only three months after joining the ensemble. He formed his orchestra in 1991 and started his soloist career under the label MP Records.

Herrera completed a world tour in 2008, in which he performed in countries like: Venezuela, Colombia, Curacao, Aruba, Peru, Ecuador, Panama, Costa Rica and the  USA; Houston, New Orleans, Atlanta, New York, Boston and Los Angeles.
Eddy is considered one of the most important musicians in the genre Merengue. He was nominated for the third time for a Latin Grammy Award in the category “Album Tropical De Merengue”.
