Gerardo Rosales is a Salsa Musician from Venezuela. At the age of 8 he started studying the piano and at the same time showed interest in playing the congas and bongo. In 1977, at the age of 13, Orlando Poleo invited him to study Afro Caribbean percussion at the "Taller de Arte" in Sarria, Caracas. From 1977 till 1980 he learned to the play the congas and bongo together with Orlando Poleo and timbales with Alberto Borregales. In 1985 he studied Afro Venezuelan percussion with Alexander Livinali at the "Fundación Bigott". In 1987 he began his musical career with important figures like Soledad Bravo, Cecilia Todd, Canelita Medina, Alberto Naranjo y el Trabuco Venezolano, Maria Rivas, Joe Ruiz and many others. During this time he founded his own orquestra "Salsa 70" and started performing in suburbs, theaters and dance halls of the capital.
 
In 1992 Gerardo Rosales was invited to participate in the Expo Sevilla in Spain with the band "Caracas Son 7" and from then on decided stay in Europe. While in Europe he worked with Orlando Poleo y Chaworo, Alfredo Rodriguez ,Montañez, Conexión Latina, Paquito D’Rivera, Cubop City Big Band, Nicky Marrero, New Cool Collective, Michael Franti, Andy, Meñique, Yolanda Rivera, Bebo Valdés and many more.  With his many concerts and recordings, Rosales has managed to spread the rhythms of Venezuela, Cuba, Puerto Rico, Colombia, Peru, Curacao, Surinam and the Antilles beyond their Latin American realm.
