Cuban-American singer and songwriter.


Gloria Estefan is one of the most celebrated Latin American artists in Europe and the US. Her international success has lead to numerous grammies and awards and several guest appearances on film and TV. Gloria was born in Havana, Cuba (1 September 1957). When she was two years old, her family emigrated to Miami, as her father was a bodyguard of Fulgencio Batista earlier.

In 1975 she started to sing in the ”Miami Latin Boys” group. She married with the leader of the group, Emilio Estefan, and gave birth to their first son (Nayib) in 1980. They changed the group name to ”Miami Sound Machine” (1984-1988). She started her solo career in 1989, when she was nominated for Grammy-Award. Her first Grammy was given for “Mi Tierra” (Best Tropical Latin Album) in 1993. All togather she has won 7 Grammy Awards.
