One of the most sophisticated Cuban Timba ensemble. The love for their folkloric traditions and the passion for Latin jazz meets beautifully in their music.

Giraldo Piloto (the founding member of NG La Banda, which was the first Timba group)  drummer, songwriter and manager decided to form his own group, Klimax, in 1995. The first concert took place at the famous La Cecilia club on Avenida Quinta in April 1995.

Their unique, original sound comes from the religious batá drumming, complex jazz harmonies and horn arrangements. In the epicenter of Timba style, Klimax made a name for themselves next to NG la Band and Charanga Habanera.

About the Author: Zsuzsa Melkvi is a salsa dancer and teacher, having competed in Latin-American and Standard dances from 1995-1998. She is also the founder of Baila Cuba (www.bailacuba.hu), a Dance company focused on giving exclusively pure Afro-Cuban workshops in Hungary. Zsuzsa holds a BA degree in Economics from the University of Hertfordshire.
