Name: Rudy Albano
Place of Birth: Córdoba Argentina
At the age of 9, Rudy started his interest in music, taking lessons on the saxophone, his first instrument. At the age of 17, after finishing his secondary school, he moved to the provincial capital, Córdoba, to fast track his musical career, and making a living with his music. The bassoon became his second instrument next to the saxophone on the college of music of Córdoba.
After some years, broadening his musical development, including performances with prominent musicians, Albano went onto record several critically acclaimed recordings released throughout South America. Over a period of 7 years, Albano continued the study of musical analysis and improvisation with several high-profiled musicians (Juan Carlos Ciallella, Hugo Pierre et al), participating in various important big-bands and jazz-orchestras, including the Youth Symphony Orchestra of Córdoba.
In 1988 he became a saxophone teacher at a private music college (Collegium) until 1990, the year he decided to go to Europe to broaden his musical knowledge and to continue his professional development of his career.
Finally arriving in the Netherlands, Albano continued to study at the Conservatorium in Rotterdam, determined to perfect the technique of saxophon playing, based on harmony and improvisation. After studying one year he decided to focus on performance and his recordings, and he played as freelancer in various groups, including with renowned musicians such as Angelo Verploegen, Nippy Noya, Eric Vloeimans, Mike del Ferro, Gerardo Rosales, etc.,touring through several European countries (Germany, Belgium, Austria, Luxemburg, Turkey, Switzerland).
In all this time he contributed to various CD recordings with Latin-American and African music, the most important being, "Canto al Caribe" by Rumbatá, produced by Timeless Records. This group, in which he played the saxophon since his arrival in Europe, performed in 1992 at the "North Sea Jazz Festival", being one of the most important jazz-festivals in the world.
Since 1993 his most important aim is composing and arranging his own repertoire to form a jazz-fusion group which also uses influences of the Latino-American folklore.
In 1995 he gave a musical contribution to the second CD of Rumbatá, this time produced by Challenge Records. In the same year, his efforts were crowned with the production of "Something to Say", with the musical contribution of Leonardo Amuedo, Ishaq van Niel, Angelo Verploegen, José Lopretti and David Rothschild. This production, which is solely his own compositions, marked the beginning of his solocareer.
