Name at birth:  Tony Vega
Date of birth: 13 July 1957
Place of birth: Salinas, Puerto Rico

Salsa singer, musician and bandleader. Vega’s attraction to music started in his early ages as he got involved in music by his musician parents. At the age of 10, Vega founded his first music band called “La prefeida”, where he played conga. He moved to New York with his family in 1968 where he was strongly influenced by El Gran Combo, Ismael Rivera, Rafael Cortijo and Refael Ithier.

Vega is considered the standard bearer of Salsa in the 90s. ”Tony Vega's voice flows smoothly, occasionally rising up with passion and singing of loves, aches and longing. Playing with solid rhythm and brass sections, he adds strings on some of the "romantica" cuts.” - Robert Leaver
