SANTO DOMINGO/DOMINICAN REPUBLIC – The first International Bachata Festival in the Dominican Republic will take place from February 24 to 27, 2011 in Santo Domingo, the capital city of the Dominican Republic. The Bachata workshops, parties and especially the cultural exchanges will inspire Bachata dancers, instructors and performers from all around the world to discover and develop new ways to dance and enjoy Bachata.
Rodney “Rodchata” Aquino is becoming one of world's most renowned international Bachata dance instructors and Bachata festival promoters. He joins forces with the well accredited and vastly experienced “Bachata Ambassador” Vesa Parkkari from Finland to organize the Dominican Republic 1st International Bachata Festival. This historic Bachata festival has been dubbed the “Latin Dance and Music Cultural Exchange Celebration”, and it is the first time that international Bachata congress or festival organizers are taking Bachata dancing back to its original source. The main goal of the organizers is to celebrate the Dominican culture and “the Dominican way of dancing Bachata”, by offering you Bachata workshops from the tropical island's top Dominican Bachata instructors in the likes of Yeni Gonzales & Julio from Santo Domingo, Bolivar Severino & Larissa Ramos from Las Terrenas/Santo Domingo and the vast experienced Francisco Reynoso – a.k.a. “Domingo Estilo”.
Enjoy this video clip of Bolivar Severino doing some social dancing in Las Terrenas.
These Dominican teachers will join many more Bachata dance artists from the Dominican Republic to teach you Dominican Style Bachata. Foreign Bachata instructors from all around the world attending the festival have a (very limited!) opportunity to teach one hour of other Bachata dance styles such as Bachatango and Bachata Moderna to the Dominicans. These are the “Local and International Dance Artists Exchange Workshops”, which will be given at all Bachata and Salsa dance levels. In addition, the “Domi-Bachata Festival” will have a new interesting concept: “look and copy” talented dancers.
Hot Parties, Live Concerts and More!
Only a few Bachata festivals have been able to offer live music. The Dominican Republic 1st International Bachata Festival will have star Bachata singers and bands such as El Pequeno de la Bachata, Teodoro Reyes, Melani Tejada and El Coronel performing live on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. The festival also has Beach Trips, Pool Parties, a Cultural Tour, Dance Parties and much more!
Aquino and Parkkari are about to make Bachata dance history by bringing Bachata back to its (folkloric) roots. Many die hard Bachateros and Bachateras have already reserved their tickets. It would be wise for you to buy your ticket now if you are seriously planning to attend the “Mecca of Bachata Festivals”, because the organizers have a limited amount of passes.
Learn the roots of Bachata in the midst of the Dominican Republic, where virtually everyone dances authentic Bachata, the Dominican Way!
