September 10 – 12: Batuke! Afro-Latin Music & Dance Festival

LONDON/U.K. – Kizomba UK Is organizing a weekend long celebration of the Afro-Latin culture called “Batuke! Afro-Latin Music & Dance Festival”. The festival will take place from September 10 to 12, 2010. Batuke! Is the unique opportunity to learn Kizomba and other cultural dances from the Luso-African diaspora.

 

 

The cultures of  Angola, Cape Verde, Mozambique, Sao Tome, Guinee Bissao and its influences from the West Indies, Portugal, Brazil and Europe will all be explored and celebrated in the heart of one of the most cosmopolitan capital cities in Europe: London, in the United Kingdom.

Great Instructors and a Unique Afro-Latin Experience

Kizomba UK convinced high-ranked international & UK guests such as Iris de Brito of Studio Afro-Latino in London, Paula & Ricardo from Portugal and Afrolatin Connection – also from Portugal – to teach different dance styles such as Kizomba, Zouk and Afro Cuban dance. More instructors will be also instructing Makuela, Rebita, Taraxinha, Coladera, Semba, Kuduro and Afro Marrabenta to the hundreds of Afro-Latin lovers attending the Batuke! Dance festival.

The instructors will be also debating, performing and partying for the entire duration of this one-of-a-kind event.

Parties


The parties and shows are also meant for the ones not wanting or needing to follow the dance workshops. Everyone has the opportunity to be part of the festivities and show everyone what they are made of. There will be some Afro-Latin showcases which have never been presented before in front of an audience. The parties will take place in some of London's best venues. Themes such as “Retro-Chic meets Ghetto Zouk” on Friday, the “Red & Gold” party on Saturday and Sunday's “Warm Down Boogie” will get all attendees in a sensual and exhilarating dance mood. Participants can expect accoustic music, live percussion, animations and a BBQ held under the “all weather patio” on Sunday 12. Excellent DJ's such as Kizomba UK resident Marito, special guest Patrick 'DJ Pat' Equagoo and DJ Honorato will spin their best Kizomba and other Afro-Latin sounds for the participants do dance until they cannot dance no more.

Venues

“Sway”, Urdang Academy” and “Anexo” are some of the top locations in which all of the workshops and festivities will take place.
