The new season of Salsa Dance classes and courses have already started, or they are about to start in September, 2010. Most of the aspiring Salsa dance students' goal is to learn to dance Salsa and get to an Advanced dance level as fast as they can. Years of experience learns that most budding Salseros and Salseras want to learn Salsa very fast, but they are not willing to “do what it takes” to get to their desired Advanced dance level in a relatively short period of time.
I compare this situation with people driving to a Mc Donald's 'Mc Drive' for buying great tasting and ready made food to eat at their own convenience. This is a relatively fast process: you can buy and eat your food in a matter of minutes. I call this analogy for students wanting to learn Salsa without much effort “Mc Drive Salsa”. The process of learning Salsa dance is very slow and time consuming. The effort a beginner student has to make for becoming an Advanced Salsa dancer can better be compared with 'real' live cooking: you go to the market to buy fresh ingredients and then you prepare your meal, which takes some time. The total process will last a minimum of half an hour.
The term “Mc Drive Salsa” can also be applied to persons who are only following instructional Salsa videos on YouTube to learn Salsa. It is not possible to learn any dance style from scratch by only observing and following video taped dance tutorials. You need a professional dance instructor to correct errors. The Salsa Dance Digestive Process
The amount of times you chew your food is also very important for your body to assimilate all the important ingredients. The minimum amount of times you have to chew your food before you swallow depends on how 'chewy' the food is. A mouthful of peas or bread will require about five to ten times, whereas a piece of steak may require twenty to thirty times to break up prior to swallowing. Translated to Salsa dance this means: the more time you take to practice your dance techniques, the better you will get. Read the article “Tips for becoming a Salsa Dance Queen or King Fast” for more information. Beginners taking Salsa dance classes have to consider Salsa dancing as a “tough peace of meat taking time to devour”.
This video clip of a dog dancing a Merengue dance routine to the song “El Baile Del Perro”, which means “The Dance Of The Dog”. This goes to show what time and dedication can achieve.
