Babies soothed by the sounds of Salsa

Featured in Today's Parent magazine, Salsa Babies has been soothing moms and babies with dance steps and activies both of them can enjoy. While the babies shake maracas and bounce along with mommy in their carriers, moms get to learn fun salsa dance steps and get a great workout at the same time.

From their website, Salsa babies says they offer "a great workout, a chance to socialize with other parents, and an opportunity to introduce one's child to music and movement. Not to mention, it's perfect for people who have always wanted to learn to dance, but could never convince their partner to take lessons!"

Jennifer Torres is the creator and founder of Salsababies, and she spent several years as the company’s principal instructor. Not wanting to leave her roots, she still teaches classes in Toronto, but is also proud to be working with a growing team of licensees and instructors.

When not teaching classes, Jennifer works from home developing the business, and likes to spend time at the beach with her husband and two daughters, Paloma and Daisy. In her spare time, Jennifer offers free classes and workshops to various women’s and children’s groups, and believes passionately in supporting other female entrepreneurs.

Salsababies is based in Canada, but have licensees with locations on two continents now and are growing rapidly. They offer the traditional Salsababies program, along with newer SalsaTots and SalsaBabes programs. Check the Salsababies.com website for more information.

Their site tells us that classes are appropriate for babies approximately 6-8 weeks of age and up, as long as you are comfortable supporting your baby in a carrier for the duration of the class. All levels of fitness and dance experience are welcome.

Dance because you like it and show that. Own the dance. A good student can copy the teacher but a great dancer learns and then makes it her own. So, create your own style and do your thing. And very important: dare to dance!
