The competition has intensified, and all gloves are off. With only three weeks away from the season finale of America’s best watched show, Dancing With The Stars, Evan Lysacek and Nicole Scherzinger tied for first place after another exciting competition round.
Olympic Champion Lysacek and the Pussycat Doll Scherzinger landed at the top of the leader board in a dead tie for the first place when their individual scores were combined with the group scores from the Cha Cha Challenge. It is time to see how the other celebrities performed together with their dance partners in their individual dances.
Evan Lysacek
Last week, the Olympic Champion Evan Lysacek had a fall from the leader’s board and suffered a minor concussion. Evan and Anna were determined to earn better scores with their Argentine Tango after their failed Samba Dance Routine last week. They were rewarded with the first Perfect Score of the season. Juror Carrie Ann Inaba was gladly pleased and said, “Evan, you had the eye of the tiger! That was the perfect combination of power and control.” Len Goodman expressed the doubts he had after watching their Tango, but he immediately added, “That was fantastic!” Bruno Tonioli was even more enthusiastic and added, “You danced like a true Alpha male. You were strong, powerful and sexy. Everything a girl wants.”
Evan and Anna got a total score of 30 points.
Erin Andrews
Maksim Chmrekovskiy, the partner of ESPN broadcaster Erin Andrews, decided to rip his pants off, yet again, despite of him being scolded last week by Len Goodman. But Goodman did not complain this time and said: “I thought the start was fine, Maks.” He also said, “Without a doubt, Erin, that was your best dance ever!” Bruno Tonioli also liked their dance performance by saying, “It was slick, lightning fast and brighter than Len’s tie.” Carrie Ann reaffirmed the other judges positive comments by exclaiming, “That was gorgeous. You guys were really dancing as a couple.”
Erin and Maksim got a total score of 27 points.
Nicole Scherzinger
Nicole Scherzinger lead the board last week in spite of Len saying that he thought she and her partner Derek Hughes lacked content. Hughes seemed pressed to win the hearts of all three judges with their romantic Waltz. Nicole surely had an advantage by dancing on her aunts favorite song, ‘You Light Up My Life’. The judges were very impressed with their dancing. Carrie Ann said, “You are by far the best dancers we’ve ever had on the show. You dance almost as Derek’s equal.” But the judges also had some less positive remarks. Carrie Ann continued by saying that she thought their connection was a bit off. Len also noticed one or two small technical errors. Bruno started positive by commenting, “You are so close to dancing royalty as you can possibly be.” But he was quick to add that there were a few minor mistakes caused by the difficulty of the choreography.
Nicole and Derek also scored 27 points.
Chad Ochino and partner Cheryl Burke scored 25 points after dancing their Vienese Waltz. Pamela Anderson and Damian Whitewood had to be content with 24 points. Niecy Nash and her partner Louis Van Amstel were a bit luckier with a score of 25 points.
The remaining sic celebrities were devided into teams of three for the following Cha-Cha-Cha Challenge. Their individual scores would be added to the team scores of the Challenge. The viewers had a chance to see how their favorites performed side-to-side with their opponents. This was the first team dance of this season on the American Edition of Dancing With The Stars.
Team Gaga: Chad Ochocinco & Cheryl Burke, Pamela Anderson & Damian Whitewood, and Nicole Scherzinger & Derek Huges. Carrie Ann said about the group’s performance, “Your sexual energy is going to be hard to beat.”
The total score for Team Gaga was 27 points.
Team Madonna: Erin Andrews & Maksim Chmrekovskiy, Evan Lysacek & Anna Trebunskaya, plus Niecy Nash & Louis Van Amstel. Len, the toughest judge, said, “I commend all of you for learning two dances in one week.”
The total score for Team Madonna was 24 points.
The combined scores resulted in the following ranking after last week’s Dance Competitions:
• Evan Lysacek & Anna Trebunskaya: 30 + 24 = 54 points total
• Nicole Scherzinger & Derek Hough: 27 + 27 = 54 points total
• Chad Ochocinco & Cheryl Burke: 25 + 27 = 52 points total
• Pamela Anderson & Damien Whitewood: 24 + 27 = 51 points total
• Erin Andrews & Maksim Chmerkeovskiy: 27 + 24 = 51 total points
• Niecy Nash & Louis Van Amstel: 25 + 25 = 49 points total
