Rumors of Latin superstar Jennifer Lopez signing on to become the newest judge on the televised American talent show “American Idol” have been circulating since August, 2010. Now, it seems like American Idol is about to get a record viewing due to La Lopez' presence.
The rumors of Jennifer Lopez' signing on as a new judge for the tenth season of American Idols subsided in August after 'People' reported that FOX had canceled their offer due to the outlandish demands made by the multimillionaire Latin superstar who – coincidentally - had a worldwide hit with her song “Love Don't Cost A Thing”. Other sources confirmed that La Lopez had too many demands of which the show could or would not meet.
Here is a clip of Jennifer Lopez singing “Love Don't Cost A Thing” live.
The artist formerly known as “J-Lo' was planned to replace the famous comedienne and outspoken lesbian Ellen Degeneris who announced that she is leaving the show after only one season because, according to her, the show “didn't seem like the right fit”. TMZ reported that judge DioGuardi had been fired from the show and 'infant terrible' judge Simon Cowell is leaving American Idols to be a judge on the American version of his popular U.K. talent show “The X Factor”, which will start airing in the United States in the fall of 2011.
The three empty spots at the judge's table and the executive's desire to “shake things up” at the highest rating TV show of the United States prompted FOX to look out for other popular celebrities. Aerosmith front-man Steven Tyler is rumored to have already signed a contract with FOX to be a judge on American Idols.
Jennifer Lopez and FOX are reportedly putting on the finishing touches on a contract that will make her the newest judge being added to the American Idols' judging panel. The deal between misses Lopez and American Idol can be finalized as early as next week. According to one of TMZ's sources, the reports of Jennifer Lopez' overwhelming demands were false. This source insisted that, “It's been typical negotiating.” Information on who will fill the last remaining empty spot is still a mystery of which there is a lot of speculation going around. The latest news is that Nigel Lythgoe is trying to convince Sir Elton John, who is surely more than qualified, to come on the show as a judge for the 10th season of American Idol airing in 2011.
