ANCHORAGE/U.S.A. – The Captain Cook Hotel in Anchorage, Alaska, is THE place to be for all die-hard Salseros and Salseras worldwide. The Alaska Salsa Festival will be held there from Thursday, July 22 until Sunday, July 25, 2010. All participants have to brace themselves and prepare for one of the best Salsa Dance instructors & entertainers of the world, Edie “the Salsa Freak”, who will be  teaching them awesome Boot Camps.

Highly Educational & Entertaining Dance Workshops

The Alaska Salsa Festival will be a 'Salsa Dream come True' for for Beginners to Advanced Salsa dancers. Edie the Salsa Freak – one of the most sought after international Salsa Dance instructors – will be giving her world famous Boot Camps from Friday until Sunday. Edie will also give a Performance and a Choreography Seminar, whch are specially recommended for Salsa dance performers and choreographers. She joins 'Salsa high-hitters' such as ESPN World Salsa Champions Liz Lira and Christian Oviedo from Los Angeles, Bachata Competition finalists Leslie Ferreira & Jorge Contreras of 'Bachata Caliente', and Johny Bravo & Christina Walker to teach the best Salsa workshops available today. They will instruct Mixed Styles of Salsa, the hottest Bachata, and – of course – Musicality, which is Edie's own invention.

Bling Salsa Parties and Jack & Jill Competitions

The Salsa showcases are quite amazing, and the Salsa parties will be something completely out of this world. The main themes of the parties are Dance Games and Theme Parties. The party held on Friday night is a “Masquerade Party”: think bright colors, feathers and masks. The Saturday party is called “Icing Party”, which is a party where all participants are encouraged to wear bling, diamonds, metallic, sequins, etc. And speaking of “ice”: the “icing on the cake” will be the Jack & Jill Dance Competitions held during the parties on Friday and Saturday evening. Jack & Jill's are Salsa Dance competitions in which the dance couples are randomly selected right before the competition starts. Dancers from all dance levels dance together to celebrate the true 'freestyle and social' nature of Salsa.

And here comes the 'cherry': Salsa band “Son Latinos” will perform live on Friday and Saturday, giving all participants the perfect opportunity to practice their newest dance moves and their Musicality on the band's wide repertoire of sizzling hot Latin sounds.

Venue

The fabulous Captain Cook Hotel - located in the beautiful downtown of Anchorage - will be the main venue of the Alaska Salsa Festival. All workshops and the Friday & Saturday parties will be held in this modern metropolitan building. The Thursday party will be held at Sorayas, and the Sunday party takes place at Jaxx.

Dancer Of The Week

Dance because you like it and show that. Own the dance. A good student can copy the teacher but a great dancer learns and then makes it her own. So, create your own style and do your thing. And very important: dare to dance!
