On their first trip to Thailand, the ultra-famous Cuban dance troupe the Kings of Salsa delivered a flawless performance at Bangkok's International Festival of Dance and Music last week. The artistic Afro-Caribbean sound plus their amazing talents definitely impressed the audience and made everyone tap their feet to follow the 8-step beat in their minds.
Roclan Gonzalez Chavez and the Kings of Salsa performers gave Bangkok an impressive show that they won't soon forget, the individual parts of the performances collectively made a masterpiece.
All nine members of the Cub Ashire band belted out sounds as soon as the curtain was raised, and the eight dancers who wore Cuban colored costumes made a statement about who was on stage and performed masterfully - accompanied by the excellent use of a warm yellow aura through special effects.
Most of the crowd might have thought that the Kings of Salsa would be performing only the salsa dance, but the 9 members on stage (5 men, 4 women) also reminded the crowds of their Latin heritage by also showing their skills in the mambo and cha-cha, with some modern hip-hop moves thrown in.

Amorous interest describes the choreography of the incredibly youthful dancers. All of the male dancers' bodies were ripped and muscular and the womens were gorgeous and extremely attractive, making every person watching become mesmerized in the process of the entertainment.
Drumsticks, broomsticks and all other sorts of props were used to impress and improve the performance, but the dancers themselves, dancing in the simplest of outfits to the most basic of elements, really stole the attention away from anything extra that was introduced.
The queen of the night was Lianett Rodriguez Gonzalez, who easily brought down the house with her flirty and almost erotic behaviour while on stage. All of the dance troupe were equally stunning in both the fluidity of their movements as well as their ability to both be individuals or perform as a cohesive unit so perfectly.
A great soloist in the group, Yenisel Perez Martinez, performed during the second part of the show, a great singular version of Mentiras, and should be recognized for the effort.
The super-talented percussionist Yaimi Karell Lay lay, whose crazy hairdo really stood out as she played the batar drums and timbales, was an individual performance we'll not soon forget.
Once the crowd was invited to show off their dance moves, it only took a few minutes before tons of dance lovers paraded on stage to applause and joyous laughter. The cameraderie between the Kings of Salsa and the common audience member further embodied the spirit and feeling of the so-called "dance festival" as everyone seemed in sync both physically and mentally, it truly was a sight to behold.
The crowd certainly enjoyed the entertainment, especially when Director Roclan proclaimed "Don't be shy, just enjoy the music!" - at which point everyone got up and started to dance in their places.
After such an incredible showing, everyone fully expects the Kings of Salsa to grace the Bangkok International Festival of Dance and Music next year with their presence, will you be there?
