Pamela Anderson got pointers from Charo for her Paso Doble dance routine on DWTS

Last Monday (April 5, 2010) Pamela Anderson gave an electrifying Paso Doble dance performance together with her dance partner Damian Whitewood. Spanish born Charo had stepped up to help Anderson boost her Flamenco Dance so she could deliver a Paso Doble which would be good enough to get her out of  the bottom two position.

The American born actress Pamela Anderson has become world famous for her adventures  as a sexy lifeguard in the Baywatch TV series, and she is also internationally known as a nude model for Playboy Magazine. Charo is also a sex symbol known for her funny nature and her freshness. So this is probably a ‘mentor-tutor’  match made in heaven. Charo is a Spanish born actress and dancer (born in Murcia on March 13, 1941) with the given name Maria Rosario Pilar Martinez Molina BAEZA. She became a headliner in 1966 after marrying the famous Latin musician Xavier Cugat at the age of 15; Cugat was 66 years old at the time. They were the first to have their nuptials in the Ceasar’s Palace in Las Vegas (U.S.A.). Xavier Cugat is a Spanish born and Cuban-bred composer accredited for introducing a rhythmically simpler big-band version of the Cuban Son to the United States in the 1920’s and 30’s. This type of music became known as the Latin Rhumba or Rumba which had little connection with the deep roots Rumba performed in the black neighborhoods of Cuba’s towns and cities.

Last week Dancing With The Stars was dedicated to story lines. On Monday all the dance stars had to tell a story through their dance. Pamela Anderson chose to portray a Gypsy woman who is completely in love with a the bullfighter, Damian Whitewood, but despising his chosen profession. The Paso Doble which the two of them danced on the song ‘Don’t let me be Misunderstood’ was a direct outcome to this love battle. The choice for this role is obvious: Anderson has always been a very outspoken Animal Rights activist. Her ideologies are a complete opposite to the Paso Doble, which as a dance celebrates the art and history of bull fighting. Pamela is very much against the act of torturing, abusing, or killing animals for sport and for recreational purposes. She has regularly posed nude in PETA’s ‘I would rather be caught naked than wearing fur’ campaigns. In the telling portion of the dance routine she showed her feelings by acting out her anger at what she feels is a serious crime against nature.

Pamela, who was a bit nervous probably caused by the pressure to be better, managed to dance her way into the judges hearts. She got a total score of 21 points (7+7+7).

Dance because you like it and show that. Own the dance. A good student can copy the teacher but a great dancer learns and then makes it her own. So, create your own style and do your thing. And very important: dare to dance!
