The winter holiday season is just around the corner, and the campaigns for Salsa dance parties are flying around the Internet. It is time to review some of the most inspiring events which combines Salsa dancing with some Christmas and New Year Magic.
“Noche Buena” Salsa Parties
Each year, there is a generation of Salsa dancers celebrating “Noche Buena” - December 24th – together by having dinner and doing some fancy Salsa dancing in their gala outfits. The ones organizing these Noche Buena Salsa parties are predominantly Latino Salsa dance instructors and party organizers. It is a great opportunity for Salsa dance students, instructors, performers and their families to eat Christmas delicacies such as the Venezuelan “arepas”, sing Nancy Ramos' “aguinaldos” (= Spanish sung Christmas carols) and dance to Salsa songs of famous Latin artists in the likes of Gloria Estefan (album: Abriendo Puertas). Many of these Noche Buena parties have one or more Salsa bands performing live for a merry dance public.
New Years Eve Salsa!
The proof of the great bond between Salsa dancers can be observed during the many Salsa New Years Eve Parties. Salseros and Salseras from all around the world get together to light fireworks, wish each other a Happy New Year and dance until the first morning lights.
Winter Salsa Dancing in the Heat
While some of us cannot wait to start skating and skiing in the European Alps, others try to avoid the cold winter months as long as they possibly can. Meteorologists predict a harsh winter, with cold excesses happening around February next year. There is good news for Salseros and Salseras all around the world: the winter months are filled with Salsa parties, congresses, festivals and concerts. For example: the first international Bachata Congress held in the Dominican Republic will take place at the island's main capital Santo Domingo from February 24 to 27, 2011. This is a great opportunity to combine some necessary sun bathing with awesome dancing at this historic Bachata dance event.
You can comment below on your plans and experiences with dancing hot Salsa in the cold winter months. In the meantime, sing along with Glora Estefan's “Abriendo Puertas” (English: “Opening Doors”).
