The international media has persisted for quite some time in its rumors about the famous Latin Pop singer Shakira dating tennis superstar Rafael Nadal. The actions of these two “friends” give many leads to wild speculations. Shakira announcing publicly that she will not ever marry her boyfriend Antonio de la Rua just adds more oil to the “rumor-fire”.

Shakira and Rafael Nadal have been getting closer to each other off late, which is why the media has hyped up the question of whether there is a serious relationship blooming between the two celebrities.

OnlineSalsa.com reported on the popularity of Shakira on many occasions. The Colombian diva is a singer, dancer, songwriter, musician, record producer and philanthropist – all in one – and is currently known as one of the most successful Latin-American music artists of all time. Shakira speaks Spanish, Portuguese and English fluently, and she has been the only South American music artist to reach the number one spot on the US Billboard Hot 100, the UK Singles chart, and the Australian Aria chart. All of these accomplishments makes Shakira a real magnet for the media and, consequently, for rumors and speculations on her love life.

Rafael Nadal, on the other hand, is no stranger in the international Tennis circuit. Nadal is currently ranked as the number one tennis player in the world. He already has seven Grand Slam singles title in his pocket and is on his way for achieving more victories. Rafael recently managed to place himself for the finals of Wimbledon 2010. If he wins he will be awarded with yet another Grand Slam title. Being considered by many as one of the greatest tennis players in history, Nadal also attracts the media who watches over him diligently. So, the reports of him and Shakira getting close does not come as a total surprise.

The following lyrics of the song “Can't Fight This Feeling” of the '80's Rock Ballad band “REO Speedwagon” seems to cover this situation, “What started out as friendship has grown stronger, I only wish I had the strength to let it show”. The two mega celebrities were seen  together being very giggly and flirty. Sources say that the chemistry between the two – which is clearly seen in the video clip “Gypsy” - is still continuing off the set. Shakira was seen sitting among the audiences and cheering for Nadal as he beat the Frenchman Paul Henri Mathieu in straight sets and progressed in the Wimbledon Tennis tournament.

Shakira made matters worse by stating in an interview she had with News of the World that she will never marry her current boyfriend Antonio de la Rua – the son of former Argentine president Fernando de la Rua – whom she had been dating since 2000. The two of them got  engaged in 2001. Shakira said, “No, I have no plans to marry. Ever. There is something romantic about being the girlfriend of someone forever. I like the state that I am,” The “Hips Don't Lie” singer continues, “I definitely plan to have children, but I see a wedding dress anyway.”

She added that Antonio was not happy with her latest music video “Gypsy”. “Obviously it is not his favorite thing in the world to see this video. But it is my job and part of what I do,” she said. Shakira continues, “I had met Rafael for a while and thought it would be perfect for this video. And it was. It was hir debut as an actor. It was very easy to work with and had a lot of fun. Although he is good looking, very humble and not full of himself at all. “

Despite all of this, Shakira’s representative described her relationship with Nadal as being just ‘good friends’, while Nadal’s representative told the press that there is no romantic relationship between the couple whatsoever.

OnlineSalsa.com dedicates the following clip to this “non-romantic” couple that does not lie.

Dance because you like it and show that. Own the dance. A good student can copy the teacher but a great dancer learns and then makes it her own. So, create your own style and do your thing. And very important: dare to dance!
